NYC Art Center – establish a venue - a work in progress artists residence, cinema performance space and media studio to teach artists and local businesses how to market themselves using media arts. It got its start and inspiration through our interaction with two prestigious institutions - Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts and The Film Society of Lincoln Center. For more than five years we worked closely with Lincoln Center producer Alina Bloomgarden to produce the popular multimedia children's show at The Walter Reade Theater entitled "Real to Real for Kids". Our job was to shoot and edit the film and video content that appeared on the big movie screen. The montages we created on the screen were then interacted with by live actors and performers on stage. The program's In person guests and hosts included notable New Yorkers such as Dr. Ruth, The Legendary Nicholas Brothers, Maurice Hines (in an homage to his brother Gregory), Savion Glover and many stars of film and Broadway. It was the phenomonal impact these theatrical events both on the stage and screen of Lincoln Center and on the StageMeetsScreen.com web site had on audiences young and old that showed us the need for community transformational media art. This in turn put into motion the NYC Art Center with its current incarnation in our neighborhood media studio a few blocks from the United Nations. The plan to establish a main location in Inwood/Washington Heights. This is being implemented in part through a series of special community events that are much like the live theater and motion pictures performances we did for Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts. These include "Yianni Stamas's Who Killed the Clown?" coming Halloween 2009 with special stage and screen guests including celebrities and political figures.
